From Localhost to Live: Deploying Myself to the Internet

Updated
•3 min read

This blog is my way of Putting myself out there. Think of it as a soft launch, like when apps release in beta, only this time, I am the beta version.

If you are reading this, then congratulationsšŸŽ‰-you are witnessing me put an end to being an offline legend and start building an online presence. My name is Miracle Onwupelu and I am a graduate Civil engineer with a background in data analytics.

In this Blog, I will be showing up more often, sharing my journey on my way to becoming an AI/ML Engineer Specialist bridging technology and Civil engineering, and if you see me post too much, just know it’s me practicing consistency, not spamming. Like they say ā€œConsistency and visibility are two dependent variablesā€šŸ˜Š

Why a Blog

Here’s why Blogging resonates better with me

  1. It helps me practice writing and expressing my thoughts clearly (as someone who shy away from the camerašŸ˜‚blogging is just what does it for me).

  2. Unlike casual conversations, blogs are permanent and searchable-it creates a digital footprint for me.

  3. Here, I can connect with like minds and also read their articles(learning from them too).

  4. It allows me to be informative and also sprinkle in a bit of humor, story telling and personality which are rarely/never done in research papers and articles

Let me be clear that I’m just a copycat who steals other people’s learning idea (nothing I do here is original šŸ˜‚)… but hey, I’m having fun and learning while at it, so whatever.

Some posts will be about me sharing what I learnt, some will be about me carrying out case studies on projects I find essential to the world we live in and basically sharing my findings. Others might just be me sharing a day in my life as a data analyst who is finding her way into being an AI/ML Engineer.

Oops! I forgot to mention that I am also on my way to becoming a financial engineer, I know you will say to yourself, ā€œfinancial engineeršŸ˜‚,what could that be?ā€ but think of it as a problem solver in the financial world, using technical skills to handle complex issues like risk management, pricing financial products, portfolio optimization and algorithmic trading.(The spark for this came after my lecturer, in the name of Engr Igwenagu, mentioned how he went to study finance following his studies in Civil engineering).

What do I hope to get out of this?

Starting a blog is more than just putting myself there and gaining some online presence(If I am being honest😊).These are my goals

  1. Improve my Communication: having poor communication skills cost me some jobs in the early days of my career as a data analyst, not like I couldn’t do the job, I faced challenges communicating properly, bad storytelling skills etc

  2. Upskilling myself, because come on! there’s just so much I don’t knowšŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø

  3. Be an inspiration to people who are looking to start a career in the data world.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re falling behind, trust me😊you’re not the only one. I’ve had my share of breakdowns, doubts, and those ā€œwhat am I even doing with my life?ā€ momentsšŸ˜‚and honestly, I still do most days. The difference now is, instead of spiraling, I’ve learned to channel the panic into something (hopefully) productive. šŸ˜Ž

Before I ramble here again, cheers to writing, learning, geeking out, and somehow keeping my sanity (fingers crossed) along the wayšŸŽ‰.
